Message from Manager

It feels like at the moment I am writing one blog talking about how well we have won and the week after talking about a disappointing defeat, unfortunately this is the latter! After a convincing win at Ashton and Backwell we once again came unstuck in our home form consistency by taking a defeat against Welton Rovers. It’s a struggle to try and take any positives out of the game on the whole to be honest as we were comfortably beaten by a team where man for man I would expect us to dominate. We have to get the home form right and start turning Moor Lane into a fortress if we are going to achieve our goals this season as we are currently too easy to beat in our own backyard. It was a hard defeat to take and we had a frank open discussion at the end of the game about ways we can improve and ensure we get the consistency everyone is aiming for. The good thing about this league is the games come quick and fast so we soon have a chance to put right the disappointment of last Saturday, and so far in this league we have done that, never losing two on the bounce and we are going to have to be at our very best to ensure this continues this Saturday away to high flying Bristol Telephones. The reports we have had from teams that have played them are they are very aggressive competitive side with real potency going forward including their strike Dhani Golding who won the Bristol post footballer of the year award recently. I read an interview he had done recently where he spoke about rejecting the advances of other clubs some in higher divisions to continue with what they are trying to achieve and that is a very positive thing to read and unusual in this era of people wanting instant success and reward. Our own future is in our hands and we have a huge amount of football to be played, I believe firmly in the ability of this squad and think it is probably the best squad for ability this club has ever had. We don’t believe we are far off at all and currently have a 7 day approach in for a player who we think can help us be where we want to be. All eyes are firmly on the Bristol Telephones tie ahead of the Yeovil game Tuesday night, we took a decent away following to Ashton and Backwell, as always all support is fully appreciated……………
