Message from Manager

After a week off it was great to get back to the league this week and after the disappointing return from what was a good performance at Devizes it was important we got the win our previous performance had deserved. We were unchanged out on field with Kieran Davis in for Jamie Rothwell in goal being the only difference from the Devizes defeat. In truth the game was a comfortable one and the only slight disappointment for me was that we did not put the game to bed and win by a larger margin, it was however nice to see us score from set pieces, the first a top free kick from Dan Wise drove into the bottom corner and the second a bullet header from in form Marcus Cook after Danny Golden had fizzed in a good delivery from a corner. Both of these goals came from before the half hour mark and I think it is fair to see the tie as a contest was over at this point, however Kieran did have to make one save in the second half which he handled well and we had further chances to score including an effort from Matt Morley which looked to have gone over the line but was not given. Since I last wrote we have also been handed a very attractive home tie against Yeovil Town FC on Tuesday 7th November and we hope to get a few people down at Moor Lane for what should hopefully be a good evening! As nice a tie as this is and as much as we are all looking forward to it we will not allow ourselves to get distracted in any way from our number one priority and that is our league position, we have 3 tough games which will be big tests for us and how far we have come, playing Welton Rovers (5th), Bristol Telephones (2nd) and Keynsham Town FC (4th) in our next 3 league games and these games, whilst not ultimately going to be the deciding factor on our league position will be a chance for us to test ourselves against the leagues best and put us in a strong position heading into the New Year. First up is Welton Rovers this Saturday at home, as always all support is hugely appreciated from me, the players and everyone associated with the club………….
