Following Saturday's superb win away to high flying Malmesbury Victoria, Wincanton returned to Moor Lane once again this time to host Radstock Town.
The game started off slowly with there being minimal threat at either end of the pitch. The best effort inside the opening 20 minutes came from Connor Williams whose shot went over the bar. Then Radstock had a good chance when a low fizzing ball into the box just couldn't get the right bit of contact as the ball was deflected wide off of the Radstock striker. Then Wincanton looked on the front foot as they had two good opportunities but made it easy work for the Radstock goalkeeper. Another good chance for Radstock in similar circumstances to the last as a low fizzing ball couldn't find the right bit of contact as it went wide of the near post. That was the best it got as far as entertainment for the first as it ended goalless with both teams grieving on missed opportunities.
The second half started with a goalkeeping mishap from Jack White who spilt the ball but managed to recover to keep the game level. A superb block from eventual man of the match Jack Burnett denied Radstock from finding the back of the net. The last 5 minutes saw end to end football with both teams having a handful of chances as they tried to take all 3 points but it wasn't meant to be as the referee brought the game to a halt as it ended goalless.
With no game this Saturday, we are back on the road next Tuesday with an away game against Welton Rovers.
