The first game back at Moor Lane saw a well contested game between Wincanton Town and Westland Sports.
The first half could have finished 4-4. There were chances at both ends of the pitch as they were searching for the game's opening goal. Wincanton's best chance from Kieran Davis who hit the crossbar from 30 yards. But the deadlock was finally broken around the 40 minute mark when Westlands broke away on a counter attack and finished it off as their striker slotted it around the keeper. So the half ended 1-0 to Westland Sports and Wincanton were unlucky to be in that position.
The second half saw Wincanton come out stronger. On 47 minutes, Kieran Davis broke through the defence and managed to find the back of the net, despite a big hand from the keeper. So the scores were now level at 1-1. As the pressure piled on from Wincanton who were looking to put themselves into the lead the chances kept coming and going as Westlands could only get a handful of chances within 15 minutes.
Finally, on 75 minutes Wincanton got the goal they were looking for. Matt Morley with a fant
astic turn of pace weaved in and out of the defence and finished it off superbly. So now Wincanton were 2-1 up. But that lead could only last 10 minutes as a mix up between defender and keeper saw an own goal help Westlands bring it back to 2-2. The last 5 minutes saw Westlands have the better chances as they had the momentum from the goal.
But it finally ended 2-2 as the final whistle was blown. A very solid performance from Wincanton. Even though it ended in a draw, it still looks promosing.
